FALSE DILEMMAS IN THE SERBIAN SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

Abstract

Among the false dilemmas which are, in the forms of obligations and regulations imposed upon the social sciences and humanities in Serbia are the dilemma of visibility-invisibility in publications from the so-called ISI list, the existence of a unified world center for all sciences and the imperative of forms of international scientific cooperation. Considering laws and subordinate legislations which regulate scientific research and higher education, the preposterousness of certain demands made from researchers at institutes and university teachers is demonstrated. The absurdity of provincial idolatry of the so called ISI list which isn’t representative for European social sciences and humanities, and contains publications which have been proven as fraudulent in the STEM fields is especially highlighted. Instead of empty rituals of expensive international conferences, the author advocates the ensuring of the free flow of information through open access to knowledge or the payment of certain expenses to companies which specialize in the distribution of such knowledge.
