Abstract

The paper discusses the problems of analysis and processing of data obtained by participatory and non-participatory observation.Problems of selecting a sequence of linear or sequential analysis in the planning process the collected materials are analysed. This shows the impact of nature of science from which these solutions came (psychology or sociology and anthropology) to their choice and preferred way of planning and processing and analysis of observational data in the social sciences. In the case of data in the qualitative form, the emphasis is on consideration of incentives arisingfrom the development of case methods and semiotic analysis. Particular attention is paid to analytic induction. A special section of articles is devoted to the discussion of possibilities to apply statistics and quasi-statistics for the analysis of observational data .At the end of the text, attention is paid to the possibility of achieving a general theoretical knowledge while processing and analysis of data obtained through observation and from complementary sources.
