Abstract

There are three views in interpretation of the research findings concerning children who grow up in households of same-sex couples. The first group of authors believes that research shows that there is no difference in psychological or social outcomes comparing with children growing up in traditional families. Another, smaller group of authors believe that careful analysis of research shows that there are some differences in the effects that same-sex parents have on children. Third, the smallest group of authors believes that some differences do exist, but they must be accepted as a part of the pluralisation of society. In conclusion, the author points out the importance of this debate in understanding of the scope and limitations of empirical research in social sciences.
